EU Customs Duty
What the €3 fee is and why it's added to your order
Why is there a €3 customs duty on my order?
Since 2025, the European Union applies a customs handling fee of €3 to every parcel shipped into the EU from outside it — including from the United Kingdom. We collect this as £3.00 at checkout so you don't get an unexpected bill from your postal carrier on delivery.
Is this the same as VAT?
No — they're separate charges. The €3 customs duty is a flat handling fee that covers the cost of processing your parcel through EU customs. Your country's VAT is calculated on top of the order value and is a different, usually larger, amount.
We collect both at checkout: your country's VAT rate is applied to your order, and the €3 customs duty is added on top of that. This means there are no surprise charges when your parcel arrives — everything is paid upfront.
Why does this apply to UK orders?
Since the UK left the EU (Brexit), all parcels sent from the UK to EU countries are treated as imports from a non-EU country — the same as a parcel from the USA or Australia. The EU customs fee applies to all of these equally.
Is the customs duty refunded if I return my order?
No — the €3 customs duty is non-refundable. Once a parcel has been shipped into the EU, the fee has been paid to customs authorities and we have no way to reclaim it. If you return your order, we will refund the cost of the goods and the shipping, but the customs duty cannot be returned.
